What is Dental Hygiene & Therapy?
Oral Hygiene is an important pillar in the maintenance of the health of our teeth, gums and oral soft tissues. Hygiene appointments allow for dedicated time to thoroughly scale and polish teeth, fine-tune home cleaning techniques and properly monitor and treat gum disease. Gum disease is a common problem in the UK, and has been shown to increase the risk and severity of other medical conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Hygienists are experts in the field of oral health and invaluable members of the dental team, offering not only thorough professional cleaning and polishing to rid teeth of plaque and tartar in clinic, but also offering tailored advice to patients on home dental care and empowering them to properly maintain their teeth for the long term.
Robyn is the hygienist at our practice, and she is also a fully qualified dental therapist, having been trained to the highest of standards. This enables her to place fillings as well as whiten teeth and provide periodontal treatment for gum disease. She is a font of knowledge and has a gentle, caring demeanor with patients, making them feel at ease and relaxed during their visits.
