Practice Cancellation Policy

Private patient cancellation policy

Please note that clinical appointment time is a valuable and limited resource.
Appointments which are wasted could have been given to patients in pain or presenting with a dental emergency.

On a practical level, we require at least 48 hours’ notice of any cancellation, and would appreciate more advanced notice whenever possible.

If your appointment falls on a Monday, or if it falls on a Tuesday following a bank holiday Monday, you must let us know by 12pm on the preceding Friday.

Please note that cancellations cannot be made by email or answerphone message as these may not be checked on a daily basis, and will certainly not be checked over weekends or on a bank holiday.

In line with our late cancellation and non attendance policy, patients who fail to attend or cancel at short notice will be charged a non-attendance fee as set out below, according to type of appointment missed:

1) New patient exams, Recall exams and Hygiene appointments – the cost of the booked appointment

2) Any treatment appointments – £75

If there is a failure to attend or a cancellation at short notice for 2 consecutive appointments, patients will be charged as above, and will be required to pay a deposit of £75 for subsequent appointments. Failure to attend will result in forfeit of the deposit.

Thank you for your kind understanding in this matter.

NHS appointment cancellations policy

Due to increasing instances of failed appointments and late cancellations, we will need to adhere strictly to our non-attendance policy.

Patients on our NHS list who

  • fail to attend or cancel at short notice for 2 consecutive appointments will be removed from the list.
  • fail to attend or cancel at short notice for 3 appointments within a 12 month period will be removed from our NHS list.

Please note that in the event of a failed appointment a letter will be sent out informing the patient of the event. The letter will serve as a reminder that any future breaches will result in removal from the NHS list.

Thank you for your kind understanding in this matter.
